Agarwood Extraction R&D Lab

Agarwood Extraction R&D Lab Layout for a 4m x 8m space (32 m²), optimized for small-scale Supercritical CO₂ or Reduced-Energy Hydrodistillation research:

Zoned Lab Layout (4m x 8m)

Zone A: Sample Preparation Area (2m x 2m)

  • Workbench with sink
  • Drying oven or desiccator
  • Grinder/chipper for agarwood chips
  • Weighing scale (precision)

Zone B: Extraction Workstation (2m x 3m)

  • Supercritical CO₂ extractor OR Mini hydrodistillation unit
  • Chiller/circulator
  • Pressure gauge/safety controls
  • Fume hood or exhaust fan (ventilation)

Zone C: Oil Recovery & Filtration (1.5m x 2m)

  • Collection flasks (borosilicate glass)
  • Filtration system (membrane/vacuum filter)
  • Separation funnels (for water-oil phase)

Zone D: Analytical Station (1.5m x 2m)

  • Mini GC-MS or access port for sample delivery
  • Refractometer, pH meter
  • Microscope (for emulsion/sediment checks)

Zone E: Storage & Documentation (1m x 2m)

  • Reagents cabinet (with chemical-resistant surface)
  • Refrigerated storage for oils
  • Safety cabinet (flammables/CO₂ tank)
  • Digital logbook/desktop computer

Safety & Workflow Considerations

  • Fire extinguisher (CO₂/foam)
  • Spill kit near extraction zone
  • Anti-slip flooring
  • Emergency eye wash near sink
  • Electrical sockets with proper grounding
  • Clear 80 cm walking aisle between zones
