Statement of Commitment

Agarwood Growers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (AGAP)

The Agarwood Growers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (AGAP) hereby affirms its full commitment to the collaborative establishment and long-term development of the Agarwood Research and Development Center in partnership with Cavite State University (CvSU).

As the national organization representing agarwood farmers, growers, processors, and industry stakeholders, AGAP recognizes the critical importance of scientific research, innovation, and capacity building in elevating the Philippine agarwood sector to global standards of quality, sustainability, and competitiveness.

In pursuit of these objectives, AGAP commits to the following:

  1. Active Participation in Collaborative Research
    AGAP shall actively engage in joint research initiatives with CvSU, particularly in the areas of propagation, tissue culture and organogenesis, resin induction science, farm management systems, inoculation protocols, and sustainable production technologies.
  2. Provision of Industry Data, Field Access, and Grower Networks
    AGAP shall make available relevant industry information, field sites, and grower cooperators necessary to support research trials, pilot programs, extension activities, and technology validation.
  3. Support for Technology Transfer and Community Adoption
    AGAP shall work closely with CvSU in disseminating research outputs, promoting best practices, and facilitating the adoption of science-based methods among farmers, cooperatives, and commercial plantations.
  4. Commitment to Ethical, Legal, and Sustainable Practices
    AGAP reaffirms its dedication to promoting responsible agarwood cultivation aligned with CITES regulations, Philippine forestry and environmental laws, biodiversity conservation principles, and fair community engagement.
  5. Participation in Governance and Strategic Direction
    AGAP shall appoint authorized representatives to the management and advisory bodies of the Research and Development Center, contributing to its governance, strategic planning, and continuous improvement.
  6. Support for Funding Mobilization and Resource Generation
    AGAP shall collaborate with CvSU in mobilizing local and international funding, grants, public–private partnerships, and stakeholder support to ensure the sustainability and expansion of the R&D Center.

Through this commitment, AGAP pledges to uphold the principles of cooperation, integrity, and shared vision that underpin this partnership. Together with Cavite State University, AGAP endeavors to establish the Philippines as a center of excellence in agarwood science, biotechnology, and sustainable industry development—benefiting farmers, communities, and future generations.
